State of Washington, Administrative Office of the Courts

Developer CAPS(Courts Automated Processing System)

CAPS (Courts Automated Processing System), is a JIS (Judicial Information Systems) calendaring and resource management solution for Washington state courts. The CAPS code base is a production capable system which has been built, modified, and expanded over the past few years. CAPS and the associated JISCore library adhere to the AOC JIS application framework guidelines. My engagement with AOC involved the design and development of a new JIS calendaring solution and retrofitting it to the existing CAPS code base. The new code base adhered to a layered architecture where application functions and behaviors are isolated in distinctly separate layers, presentation layer, a service layer, a business object layer, and a data access layer. The code in each layer leverages existing industry best practices such as Struts and Hibernate.

The substitute check, which contains an image of the check, will be the legal equivalent of the original. The check 21 based banking application is targeted for small to large business houses, making check clearance easier and, in compliance with new FRB regulations. A client server based application, with client sending pertinent information to the server, which makes explicit conversion to the new FRB standards X9.37(ANSI), to interface with the Federal Reserve Banks Check 21 Product Suite. So that the forward cash letter(FCL) can be processed taking advantage of the solutions designed to help financial institutions by the FRB.
